Dr. Seuss Party

I had the most wonderful time planning, preparing, and decorating for Jaden's "Dr. Seuss" 3rd birthday party! Thankfully, there have been many wonderful Dr. Seuss-themed parties out there before me, so I had some wonderful ideas to "borrow." Here is a sneak peek of the party. I will post more pictures soon.

I made Jaden's birthday banner myself by cutting out each piece by hand. Soon I will have a Cricut machine to use (hint, hint Sam), which will make it MUCH easier!

I printed black and white pictures of Jaden and just added colored pictures of Dr. Seuss characters to the top of each picture and hung them above the mantel, along with some vases covered with blue hair (Thing 1 and Thing 2) and red flower in each.

I found lanterns that matched perfectly in the Spring section at Hobby Lobby - 3 to a pack in different sizes and attached a polka-dotted bow to the bottom of each, just for fun. Around the window is a dr. Seuss bulletin board set that I got from Oriental Trading.

Popcorn box from the Dollar Tree. I just covered the "Popcorn" part with Thing 1 and Thing 2.

"Seuss Juice" box that had juice boxes for the kids.

This table was the kids favorite...you can see why!

Treat bags.

Wonderful Thing 1 and Thing 2 red velvet cupcakes covered with cotton candy and Jaden's beautiful Cat in the Hat birthday cake, made by my mom and my sister (with his party invitation on it).

It was such a fun fun fun party! For more Dr. Seuss party ideas, check out these great sites, which I used for some of my inspiration...

  10. Awesome! This also seems to be a popular party theme for twins. My sister and I are planning a Dr. Suess themed party for our one yr. olds (a boy and a girl) this weekend. You have some really cute ideas here! I loved what you did with the red gerbers in the blue streamers. Super cute and can I steal? In return I'll share the invitation we wrote, a Suess inspired poem:

    One kid
    Two kids
    Pink kid,
    Blue kid.

    Blond kid,
    Brown kid,
    Eyes blue,
    Or brown ones…

This one has a little trot,
This one rolls around a lot.
Say, what is this paper you got?

Yes. One can walk, and one can roll
    Neither one is very old.

    One’s a girl
    One’s a son,
And both these one’s are turning one.

Why are these two turning one?
Because they are, because it’s fun.

    [insert date], on this day
We would like you to come and play
Where is it you will come and play?
Out at our house, if that’s okay.

That’s the place, here’s the time: [insert time]
Not coming is not a crime
Nor is not coming on time
Come, or late, or don’t, it’s fine.

One party is so much fun
One party for one turning one,
One party for one turning two,
Or three or four, that is fun too.
But really, that is nothing new.
So here is something new for you
New and fun and different too.

    Two parties!
    Two are turning one!
And surely that is twice the fun.
    Two birthday parties into one.

Come to the party that is new,
The new party that’s made for two,
And now you’re asking, Made for who?
    For [insert name],
and made for [insert name] too.

  13. I am having a party for my twin boys soon. This has given me some great ideas. Thank you! So far I only have the invite down and this is what their invitation says:
A person's a person no matter how small,
Come join us on Saturday, we'll have a ball.
Two little boys' birthday to celebrate,
Let's cheer and sing! It will be great!

And they have invited you, you and you!
